The Male Link - Man's World? Conference Report

Site Image Map

The Male Link Steering Group set itself five goals for the year 1999-2000 ...

  • establish a web site;
  • produce and distribute a regular newsletter (called "Male Matters");
  • convene a series of Focus Groups to look at the issues facing specific groups of men;
  • begin the process of researching the attitudes and values of males in Northern Ireland and the Border Counties;
  • organise a major North-South conference on the theme of "Man's World?"
The last initiative - the conference - asked the question: "is this really a man's world?" and looked at some of the varying perspectives on the changing place, role and expectations of men in the new millennium. It sought to increase our awareness of male issues and to promote future vision in this field.

The Conference Report is available in both "hard copy" and on-line. To access the on-line document, please click on the links below. To speed-up the downloading process the report is broken-down into sections with few graphics. However, these files are stored in Portable Document Format (PDF) and you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader software installed on your computer to view them.

[If you do not have this 'Reader' you can download a free copy of it by clicking on the button below and then following the instructions on the screen. This process can take 20-30 minutes, so be prepared to wait. The good news is that it will be very useful to you in the future - many large reports are now available in this format on the internet for free ... so be patient! However, The Men's Project cannot guarantee that this software is safe from viruses or faults. Therefore, please make sure that you check this product before using it on your machine.]
